Jonathan & Rachel Oh - YAG Chaplains

Rachel and I (Jonathan) have been truly blessed over the past few years leading the Young Adults Group (YAG) at Tokyo Union Church. It’s amazing how the Lord has shaped us, brought us together, and helped us to learn and grow through our time as coordinators. YAG is such a special place because it is a smaller reflection of TUC as a whole. We see diversity in faith, paths of life, and interests, and yet, we are united together in Christ. As we transition into a new chapter in our lives as parents, it felt appropriate to hand the reins of leadership over to others who could lead this incredible group. We are so thankful that the Lord has allowed YAG to grow so quickly over the past several months after TUC re-opened to in-person gatherings. YAG has been meeting frequently after services and in gatherings at other times during the week. We are thankful that Isaac Lee and Alexandria Kayy were interested in serving as co-coordinators for YAG, and we pray that the Lord will bless the work of their hands as they take on this important role. After having opportunities to chat with them, I could clearly see their enthusiasm for community and believe they will bring that passion to the group. The pastors also saw the same thing, and in their wisdom, they have guided YAG into this new chapter. Rachel and I are also thankful that the pastors at TUC asked us to serve as YAG Chaplains. They define this role as “providing support, prayer, wise counsel of older siblings in Christ, and veterans of YAG who experienced love and life-changing support from TUC's YAG ministry.” While we have so much to learn ourselves, we are also happy to still be a part of YAG and to support others, providing them with spiritual guidance and love as best as we can. We thank you, TUC family, for your support during our time as coordinators for YAG, and we ask for your prayers as we transition into new roles for YAG and also as parents. We also ask that just as you supported us as coordinators that you will do the same for Alexandria and Isaac - with encouragement, care, and with much prayer.

With love in Christ, Jonathan and Rachel Oh
