Monique Bloomfield

Monique was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. She was baptized as a teen at United Community Baptist Church in Brooklyn, and has since then continued to grapple with how to live the Christian life in a practical way. Her interest in Japan that was sparked as an anime-watching child led her on a journey that involved participating in Japanese cultural events in New York, doing a home stay with a Japanese family in Shizuoka, and eventually living and working in Japan as an educator. Moving internationally was far more transformative than she realized, as it presented her the opportunity to define who she is and explore who she can become. She wants to always remember to watch God continue to amaze and take her far beyond what she could ever think or imagine.
