Wally Higgins

I was born in New Jersey - suburban to New York City - in 1927, and by the time I was a college student - Colgate University, Hamilton, NY, followed by a year at the U of Michigan getting a MA degree in math - I had seen much of the USA and nearby parts of Canada. After two years in the US Army and several other changes., I found a job where I thought I wanted to live - Washington, DC - as an analyst for the Navy. That job included field assignments as well as time working in the Washington area. I was picked for an assignment to the Seventh Fleet and for this was based in Yokosuka, and this is how my connection with Japan began. I very soon discovered that I would want to live here if I could, and, after many events and changes that I mention in the podcast, that is what happened.
